2014-2015 ANNUAL REPORT

Chariot: Cooperation as the key to success

Program Administration

In 2014-2015, for the ninth year in a row, the Canada Media Fund (CMF) renewed its Services Agreement with Telefilm Canada for the administration of CMF programs.

The CMF Program Administrator | Telefilm Canada (CMFPA) received 1,981 applications in 2014-2015, less than the previous year (2,054) despite an increase of $8 million in the CMF’s program budget. Of the total number of applications received, 1,386 were granted funding, up 1.1% from 2013-2014. The CMFPA also reviewed final costs of more than 600 files and processed about 2,800 disbursements.

The CMFPA team, in the convergent and experimental stream together, provided pre-application consulting services for more than 300 projects so that producers could verify the eligibility of their applications prior to submission.

In 2014-2015, the CMPA continued to implement a number of process improvements in order to efficiently manage the CMF Program.

Overall, administrative service levels were attained for most programs in 2014-2015; however, improvements are required for the development and versioning programs. Nevertheless, ongoing simplification measures over the past few years have led to more efficiencies in file administration. The CMF and the CMFPA will continue to work closely together to streamline the analysis process in an effort to maintain the level of services offered to clients.
